Your first session is a chance for us to begin getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. All sessions at The Honeycomb Therapy Center are held virtually via secure video. Individual intake sessions are 50 minutes long, and couples or family intake sessions are typically 60 minutes.
Prior to your first session, you will be sent consent forms to sign as well as appropriate information sheets.
We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, and what kind of support you’re looking for. We will go over background questions to get a fullerpictureof you as a person—your identity, experiences, relationships, and anything else you’d like to share. This helps to develop support in a way that’s personalized and respectful.
Some things we might explore:
What’s been going on lately and what feels challenging
Any past therapy experiences (good or not-so-good)
Your trauma history, relationship dynamics, or identity context
What safety, trust, and support mean for you
You’re welcome to bring notes, questions, or just yourself. There’s no pressure to open up all at once—we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. We are also happy to answer any questions you have about therapy, our approach, or logistics (such as scheduling, payment, and discussing the consent form).

Not all of our clinician’s accept insurance, but we do offer “sliding fee” and “pay what you can” scales. If you are unsure if we accept your insurance, please contact us and we will assist you in verifying your coverage or moving forward with a different payment method. Not all of our providers accept insurance, but have experience working with networks to provide out of network services and reimbursements.
